The 2016 romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, experienced a remarkable resurgence following its re-release on February 7, 2025. Surpassing expectations, the film outperformed several new releases, amassing over ₹22 crore within five days and exceeding its original lifetime collection.
This renewed success sparked discussions about a sequel. Producer Deepak Mukut announced plans for Sanam Teri Kasam 2, aiming for a 2026 release with Harshvardhan Rane reprising his role. However, directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru’s involvement remains uncertain due to intellectual property rights disputes. Mukut emphasized his ownership of the film’s rights and stated that no directors have been finalized for the sequel.
Mawra Hocane confirmed being approached for the sequel but has not officially joined the project. Harshvardhan Rane expressed strong enthusiasm for continuing the story, even pledging to undertake an 11-day water fast to advocate for the sequel’s production.
Despite the enthusiasm, the sequel’s development faces challenges due to the ongoing rights dispute between the producer and directors. Fans eagerly await further updates as these issues are addressed.
